About me - Introduction

My name is My Linh Tran, I live in Hamburg, Germany and I was born 1995. Years ago I had a blog (www.mlt-chess.blogspot.com) about my chess adventures. But after two years I stopped. Now I have much more time again and I would like to introduce you to my world - not only to my chess world but also to all the other stuffs I do (e.g. Poetry Slam) - That's why I chose the title "My Linh Adventures". (Some of my friends only call me Linh, one of my favorite nicknames is lingling)

Filiz Osmanodja is vice world champion!

WIM Filiz Osmanodja (source)
WIM Filiz Osmanodja (2310 ELO) from Germany is vice world champion under 18 - Congratulations!!! With 8,5 points out of 11 rounds and a half point distance to the third place, she has a nice result. And it's also her last WYCC. Very nice culmination!

World Champion in this age group became WGM Saduakassova Dinara (KAZ, 2409 ELO). She has a sensational result. She only drew two times, so she reached 10/11!!! She comes out on top very clearly with 1,5 points distance to Filiz.

Do you know who took the third place in this age group? It's WFM Xiao Yiyi from China (2168 ELO). I played at the WYCC in Al Ain, UAE last year with black against her and could win with an excellent Wolga Gambit game. :-)

Sophia with 5,5/11

The last round is over (they started 10 pm) and unfortunately she lost against Cosman Andreea-Marioara (ROU, 2018 ELO). So Sophia ends up with 5.5/11. She reached 50 %, it's okay. But if I'm honest, I'm a bit sad about it because I really really really grant her that she plays a tournament of her life haha.
This evening will be the award ceremony. I think many players won't go there because often it is very boring for those who don't get anything. Instead they are going to paaaaarty.

Have fun little Sophia. It was your last WYCC, I know how it feels. :-)

My third performance

I had my third performance on Monday in the culture house 73 (Kulturhaus 73). It was very cool to be on stage again after a long summer break (Poetry Slam has a summer break). It was a under 20 Poetry Slam. It is hosted by "Kampf der Künste" - it's highly esteemed. There I presented my new text called "Der Stuhl der Jahre" -"the chair of the years". I was more or less content with my performance and could take the 5th place (8 participants). But you know, in Poetry Slam the place or the points the jury distribute isn't really important. The most people who do Poetry Slam love to be on stage and share the own texts with the rest of the world - pretty much.. haha :-)

My next performances:
Thursday, 9th Oct. - Stellwerk Slam in Harburg, Hamburg
Friday, 7th Nov. - Digger Slam in Bramfeld, Hamburg

:-)

Little Sophia on a safari tour

Well, you all have to know that we - at least the most of the chessplayers - love to be on a WYCC and see other things than a chessboard :-). So Sophia takes the chance to see something from South Africa - the safari. She had to wake up early (it's not her strong point :D) but it definitely was worthwhile!
After the break she played against the German player Luise Diedrichs (1992 ELO). With black Sophia drew. I think both are content. To play against a German player on the WYCC is in the majority of cases unpleasant. Now Sophia has 3.5/7 - it's okay. I hope she can achieve more in the last 4 rounds. Tomorrow she will play against Monika Machlik (Norway, 2005 ELO). I know her from my last tournament in Erfurt.

Cross your fingers! :-)

Sophia in Durban, South Africa - WYCC 2014

The 4th round in Durban, South Africa is playing at the moment. Sophia lost the first round against the second ranked player Rodriguez Rueda Paula (Columbia, 2349 ELO). Afterwards she played the next two rounds against two weak opponents - No big deal for Sophia. :-)
By the way, her coach on this championship is IM Jonathan Carlstedt from Hamburg!

Sophia Schmalhorst, German Youth Champion 2014 Girls U18

She's playing against Nevioselaya Maria (Belarus, 2024 ELO) with black since 4 p.m. (German time) Both players have two points. Nevioselaya lost in the third round against the German player Filiz Osmanodja. So now the next German punch has to come!

Cross your fingers! :-)

World Youth Chess Championships 2014

The WYCC in Durban, South Africa will start in three days! My last WYCC was last year in Al-Ain, United Arabic States. I'm sad I've already played my last WYCC. It always was an amazing trip, I hope my good chess friend Sophia Schmalhorst will have a good last world championship like I had last year. You can find the official website here.
Sophia and I are playing in the same club since we play chess: SC Ladja Roßdorf, Hessen, Germany. I'm very happy about it. We could undergo so many events, tournaments and partys. It was always funny and entertaining. Her start ranking in the age group under 18 girls is place 36. But you know, the start ranking doesn't matter at all. If she is on a roll, she can beat anybody!!!
We will see!

Stagnation

Stagnation. Why stagnation? One of my new texts (I'm talking about Poetry Slam) is about stagnation. My next performance is on Monday, 22th September in the house of culture 73 (German: Kulturhaus 73), Hamburg. It will be my third performance and I'm looking forward to this event.

Workaholic

Hey Dudes! I'm sorry I didn't post anything since Tuesday. At the moment I have some changes with reference to my work. That's why I feel like a workaholic. But in a few weeks it gets better - I'm sure.
I think it's handy to follow my blog by Email. On the right side you can sign in. :-)

An Apologize

I express regret for all the years in school I wasn't obedient to my teachers who had no authority to control the class. Today I find out or better: I could see this situation in another perspective. As far as I can ascertain as a trained assistant in the chess lesson at school, it is so horrible to be a teacher without authority!!!
I don't talk about me who has no authority, I talk about the teacher who is responsible for this class (24 kids, approx. 11-12 years old). I should teach the kids as a trained assistant (as I said before) and I had much more authority. I was so surprised (well, not at all... but it's although surprising...) that they listen to me and if the teacher wanted the class to be quiet, they ignored him the most of the time.
So a very special apology to all my teachers at school. Haha!

A Horse Of Another Color!

People who are non-native speaker: I also didn't know this expression before. It's American and means "quite another matter".
I want to show you another passion of me: Poetry Slam. Unfortunately I just do it in German. My English is way too bad to performe in English.

You can see my debut at the "4th Digger Slam" in Bramfeld, Hamburg, Germany.

The First International Woman Chess Festival in Erfurt (Thuringia, Germany)

Two weeks ago I played my first tournament in 2014. You have to know that I played between 2008 and 2012 10-15 tournaments per year. And 2013 I only played five tournaments. Therefore it was very special to me to play such a serious tournament again.

It's me at the tournament! :-) (Photo: Klaus Steffan)
You can find the official website here (on this website you can choose the language german/english) and here you can find an article in german about the first international woman chess festival from my point of view.

My Readers In The Future

Hi everyone! Welcome to my new blog. First of all: Please, don't judge me because of my English. I know it's not so well all the time. But as I said before, I try to improve my English. :-)
I think I'll have different readers. I want to introduce you to what I think about:

1. My Friends
Well, some of my friends will laugh about it, because I try to blog in English. But if they laugh, they will laugh with me and they don't laugh about me... At least I hope so (haha). However, some of them will have a look three or maybe five times in a year... no, I'm kidding, maybe five times in a month (Actually I just hope so, I don't know).

2. My Boyfriend
He will read this blog everyday, everytime... If not... Kidding! (I'm not kidding, but I don't want that you are afraid of me, so I pretend I'm kidding. It's not funny? Come on... It definitely is. I'm really just kidding!!!)

3. Acquaintances
Some of my acquaintances will see this blog and they will read it first. But afterwards they only rummage in it once a year. If they'll keep reading it, I would be very happy!!!

4. Accidental meeting
I don't think that people who accidental meet my blog, will keep reading it. Even so, I am of the opinion that there are people who do that. I just don't know such people. :-) I would be glad if I get follower by this way!!!

5. Chess Players
As I said before, I am a chess player. I play(ed) international tournaments, therefore I know many people all over the world. That's very cool and I like to see my chess friends from the whole of Germany, Canada, USA or wherever e.g. at the german or world youth championship.
I think the most of my readers will be chess players because the blog will also contain much about chess. So why not reading this blog all the time and get to know more about me.
